Bonneville County Social Services is located on the ground floor of the main courthouse at 605 No. Capitol, Room 101, Idaho Falls, Idaho. Our department is charged with administering the mandates and intent of Idaho law contained in Title 31, Chapters 34 & 35 of the Idaho Code. As such, the county may provide limited and temporary assistance to Bonneville County residents for the payment of certain non-medical and medical expenses.

Applicants must be residents of Bonneville County.  Requesting county assistance should be only as “the last resort” and when all other alternatives have been exhausted. Applicants who receive county assistance will be required to repay the taxpayer funds used to assist a county resident under these laws.  As an applicant/recipient of county assistance, you should know that an automatic lien is created by these statutes and attaches to all real and personal property until such assistance has been reimbursed.

Our department also employs a veteran’s service office who works in cooperation with the various veterans’ services agencies and veterans’ organizations to provide information and assistance to veterans in obtaining compensation, pension, medical, disability, and other benefits.

Our office is also home to the Board of Community Guardians.  This board serves as an advocate for members of our community who are incapacitated, disabled, and elderly and need someone to make decisions for them.
